Our story
Hi, my name is Dalvina Vaglio and I´m the owner of Emerald House Village. They said that my story, well, Emerald´s story was interesting, so I agreed to share it.
First time I visited Siargao in 2008, back then, it looked completely different than it does now …
I decided to build a place that would combine swiss quality, respecting local materials and design and eco-friendly, well blended with the nature that I respect and inspire me so deeply. Starting my project in 2011 from the scratch on half hectar of a proper jungle, I slowly built every year a new house, using some materials from the land like white rocks, coco lumber and bamboo. The village was born and from day 1, people wanted to stay in my place. Keeping the jungle noise and trees, the houses are fully integrated to the green oasis. I kept the space large enough so it feels quiet and you can feel free here. Hence why my place has such a gorgeous garden with some really old and massive trees. It still is a source of medicine for us. Already at the beginning I decided that I want to keep the place eco friendly, we were recycling and we still do. Aside of it, I am also proud today that my staff, people of Emerald House, is part of the project and of my life. They are my family and you will meet them, especially Sasha and Erna, who are my soulmates.
Surfing is of course my hobby but now I enjoy my life with my partner Paul, my daughter Estelle and my dogs and cats. I love taking care of my guests and construction is my favorite hobby. My goal for 2023 was to build a nice shale at the back of the property, surrounded by our very own organic garden. We also have a new pet friend Patig the pig and Patxa the cat.
2024 is coming soon and for sure new projects will follow.
In the past few years I´ve seen a rapid change in Siargao - now there is thousands of tourists visiting the island every year, it reminds me of Bali 15 years ago! Cloud9 area is still pretty quiet with no night life. But I must say, unlike other worldwide known places, Siargao still preserves its natural beaty that lies not only in the ocean shores, waves and green palm trees but mostly in its people. People of Siargao who are so unique. It is hard for me to describe how beautiful people here are. Welcoming you with such smile, sharing, so kind hearted… There is only one way how you can find out - visit Siargao yourself and get the fever of always looking forward to come back :)
